HL Robotics, the global robotic solutions company of HL Group, announced its entry into London Gatwick Airport—the UK's second-largest airport—with 'STAN,' the outdoor autonomous parking robot developed by its French subsidiary, Stanley Robotics. This marks the first time a robotic parking service has been introduced at a UK airport, making it a significant milestone that delivers a new commercialization achievement at a major European airport.

Starting next month, Gatwick Airport will officially adopt and begin operating the robotic parking service developed by Stanley Robotics. A user parks their vehicle in a dedicated area near the South Terminal, confirms their reservation details, and steps out—then the autonomous parking robot lifts the vehicle's tires and moves it to an available parking space. There is no need to hand over a car key separately, allowing travelers to head straight to their destination and greatly enhancing convenience.
A particular strength is that the service is even linked to return flight information. In line with the passenger's arrival time at the airport, the parking robot moves the vehicle to the retrieval area in advance—dramatically reducing the time spent searching for an empty space in the parking lot or locating one's vehicle after returning home.
'STAN,' the robot deployed at Gatwick Airport, moves under the vehicle, lifts its tires, and relocates it to a designated parking space, capable of transporting vehicles weighing up to three tons. It can operate around the clock and has been developed to respond reliably to outdoor conditions such as rain and snow, making it optimized for large-scale airport parking lots.
Earlier, HL Robotics invested 32.2 billion won to secure a 74.1% stake in Stanley Robotics and incorporated it as a subsidiary last year. Stanley Robotics is a world-class outdoor parking robot specialist that first commercialized parking robots at Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport in France in 2018, subsequently expanding its business scope to airports and finished-vehicle logistics hubs across Europe and North America. This entry into Gatwick Airport—which serves 43 million passengers annually as the UK's second-largest airport—is expected to serve as a springboard for global expansion. Stanley Robotics anticipates that the utility of its robots will grow further as Gatwick Airport expands its parking capacity to prepare for rising passenger volumes.
Alongside the overseas outdoor market, HL Robotics is fully driving commercialization in Korea with 'Parkie,' its indoor autonomous parking robot. Parkie successfully completed a demonstration at Gimpo Airport's international terminal parking lot on the 22nd of last month, and is scheduled to be deployed at the actual site from next month through the end of the year. The company plans to intensively verify operational stability and space utilization at Gimpo Airport, where vehicle traffic is heavy and the parking lot's average occupancy rate reaches 80–90%.
