[Press] HL Robotics Expands to Airports... Autonomous Parking Robot 'PARKIE' Begins Operation at Gimpo Airport

Proving Operational Stability and High Efficiency at Gimpo Airport's International Terminal Parking Lot, an Extreme Environment with Thousands of Vehicles Daily

Partnering with Haeahn Architecture in Step with the July Parking Robot System Implementation... Accelerating Introduction from Landmarks to Apartments

The B1 parking lot of Gimpo Airport's International Terminal. As a pre-booked vehicle enters the 'Drop-off/Pick-up Zone' dedicated to robot parking, two autonomous parking robots, 'PARKIE,' glide toward the front of the vehicle. Effortlessly lifting the vehicle weighing up to 3 tons, PARKIE autonomously finds an empty parking space and safely moves the vehicle. Upon departure, it also readies the vehicle in the Drop-off/Pick-up Zone in advance, matching the airplane's arrival time. The need for drivers to circle the parking lot looking for an empty spot or wander around searching for their car with heavy luggage has completely disappeared.

HL Robotics is launching a full-scale on-site demonstration of its physical artificial intelligence (AI)-based autonomous parking robot, 'PARKIE,' at the Gimpo Airport parking lot. Having successfully completed a demonstration at the Gimpo Airport International Terminal parking lot on June 22nd, PARKIE will be deployed to the actual site from next month until the end of the year. This is the second large-scale demonstration following the one at the Chungbuk Provincial Office's Content Enterprise Support Center last year.

The industry evaluates this Gimpo Airport demonstration as the optimal stage to prove PARKIE's perfect commercial viability and system stability. Accommodating a total of 599 vehicles, the Gimpo Airport International Terminal underground parking lot boasts an average utilization rate of 80 to 90%, and being connected to the nearby Lotte Mall, it is a location with an extremely high vehicle turnover rate. As it is a complex environment where short- and long-term parking demands arise incessantly, it provides the perfect conditions to prove PARKIE's overwhelming operational efficiency.

As the government implements related regulations officially recognizing parking robots as a type of mechanical parking device starting this July, a strong green light has also turned on for HL Robotics' business expansion. Introducing PARKIE eliminates the need to secure extra space for people to open doors and get in and out of vehicles, thereby drastically increasing the number of parkable vehicles within the same area by more than 30%. It is emerging as an essential alternative not only for airports but also for urban commercial facilities and residential facilities like apartments suffering from parking shortages.

Based on this demonstration, HL Robotics has completed commercialization preparations in anticipation of an explosive increase in demand. In October of last year, it already signed a business agreement with Haeahn Architecture, a comprehensive architectural firm, establishing a strong partnership to apply PARKIE as a built-in feature from the design stage of new buildings, going beyond its application in existing parking lots.

An HL Robotics official expressed confident ambition, stating, "The operation at Gimpo Airport, where vehicle movement is the most frequent and complex, is a decisive opportunity to prove the world-class control technology and reliability possessed by PARKIE. In step with the implementation of the parking robot system this July, we will maximize the synergy of our construction infrastructure and accelerate the introduction of PARKIE beyond airports to hotels, department stores, and large-scale multi-family housing, surely preempting the smart parking solution market."

HL Robotics is innovating spaces and drastically changing the paradigm of parking. The future of intelligent mobility spaces, led by PARKIE, has begun its full-scale flight with Gimpo Airport as its stage.
