As the commercialization of 'intelligent parking robots'—which overcome the limitations of narrow spaces to automatically move and park vehicles—is being promoted in earnest this July, the government directly visited the demonstration site of HL Robotics, a leader in this technology, to inspect its technological capabilities and safety.
On the 14th, government officials, including Hong Ji-seon, the 2nd Vice Minister of MOLIT, visited the HL Robotics parking robot demonstration site located in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. This visit was arranged to closely verify the on-site applicability and safety management system of the robot technology currently in operation, ahead of the implementation of the parking robot-related system in July.
The facility inspected by MOLIT officials was preemptively established in the parking lot (7-space scale) of the Chungbuk Content Enterprise Support Center in May of last year and has been operating successfully. At the site, a parking and retrieval demonstration applying HL Robotics' precise technology was conducted, and detailed reports were given on the overwhelming user convenience and operational efficiency proven through over a year of on-site monitoring, along with future commercialization plans.
Observing the demonstration, Vice Minister Hong evaluated, "Parking robots are a future-oriented parking service that can dramatically improve public parking convenience by enabling efficient parking even in narrow spaces." He emphasized, "Securing safety and convenience, as well as achieving a high degree of operational efficiency that minimizes user wait times, is the key." He further urged thorough operational management and safety accident prevention so that the public can use them safely during the upcoming expansion period of parking robots.

Currently, parking robots are classified as mechanical parking devices, placing restrictions on their installation in multi-family housing such as standard apartments. However, as voices calling for their expanded introduction to resolve parking shortages grow louder, it is reported that MOLIT is also positively reviewing plans to improve the system to allow installation in multi-family housing.
HL Robotics, which has proven its global status through the world's first commercialization in the autonomous parking robot sector and consecutive CES Innovation Awards, plans to perfectly respond to the upcoming system implementation in July, starting from this MOLIT on-site inspection, and to further solidify its position as a global first mover leading the intelligentization of domestic mobility spaces.
