HL Robotics announced on the 2nd that it has signed a business agreement with HDC Hyundai Development Company to introduce Korea’s first AI-powered autonomous parking robot, PARKIE, to the Apartment reconstruction project. Through this agreement, HL Robotics will deploy its self-driving parking robot PARKIE to provide residents with innovative parking convenience and set a new standard for future residential spaces.

The newly introduced PARKIE is a parking robot based on AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) technology. Once a driver leaves their car in a designated handover zone, the robot moves beneath the vehicle, lifts its wheels, and automatically finds an available parking spot. This completely eliminates the hassle of drivers having to search for parking and maneuver their cars into tight spaces.

Under its vision of creating the Apartment as a “Smart AI Landmark” that goes beyond a simple residential space, HDC Hyundai Development Company has been pursuing the adoption of various advanced technologies. As part of this effort, the collaboration with HL Robotics will introduce an AI parking solution that maximizes parking efficiency and greatly enhances resident satisfaction.

With the PARKIE system, residents can simply leave their cars at the entrance and head straight home. When retrieving their vehicles, they can call for them through a dedicated app or wall pad, and the car will automatically be brought to the exit area. This not only saves significant time but also eliminates risks such as door-ding damage or collisions within the parking lot.451cc8df0505d.png

The autonomous parking robot system is also expected to improve space efficiency by more than 30% compared to conventional parking facilities. Since less space is required for passengers to get in and out or for driving lanes, the additional space can be repurposed into community facilities or green areas for residents.

A representative from HDC Hyundai Development Company stated, “This MOU with HL Robotics is an important step in positioning Songpa Hanyang 2nd Apartment as a leader in future residential technologies. Through the AI-based autonomous parking system, we will deliver differentiated value to residents and drive innovation in Korea’s residential culture.”

HL Robotics’ PARKIE has already proven its technological capabilities through demonstrations at CES and various domestic and international venues. With this partnership with HDC Hyundai Development Company, it is now set to achieve the first large-scale commercialization in an apartment complex. Starting with the Songpa Hanyang 2nd Apartment reconstruction project, the two companies plan to expand their cooperation into a wider range of smart residential solutions in future projects.
